How we see ourselves and others

Do we truly like what we see when we look at ourselves? Maybe how we see ourselves on one day is different to how we see ourselves on another day. Why is that?

We could be dealing with issues some days which affect us in a negative way. For example: A relationship issue, a financial issue, a bereavement and so on. On top of this, we could be experiencing negative thoughts from the past or thinking about the future. Maybe we also have a distorted belief system, which then projects a negative view of ourselves. On these days, we’re not at our best.


How do we see others?

The same points above apply. Others could also be affected by negative experiences or thoughts, and their own belief systems.


Having a more positive mindset

The mindset that we’re in will determine how we see ourselves and how others see us, especially if that person is not well known to us. This being the case, it would be almost impossible to project a positive image to all of the people all of the time.

You can have a more positive image and mindset by:

  1. having a greater understanding of Thoughts, Beliefs and Values
  2. accepting or managing some of the more difficult or upsetting situations which inevitably will happen to us throughout our lives
  3. improving your communication skills
